Founded in 1977 by Bob Pion, Bob Pion Buick GMC has proudly served the communities of Chicopee, Springfield, MA, and Northern Connecticut for more than four decades.

For Bob, the automobile industry wasn't just a career-it was part of his heritage. His father, Francis Pion, owned Pynchon Motor Sales in West Springfield, MA, specializing in Ford, Lincoln, and Zephyr vehicles. Despite the challenges of the Great Depression in the 1920s and '30s, Francis instilled in his young son a deep appreciation for hard work, business ownership, and a genuine love of automobiles. Tragically, Francis passed away when Bob was just eleven years old, cutting short the opportunity for father and son to share that passion professionally.

Bob initially pursued a career in the clothing industry but soon realized his true calling was in automobiles. At only 21 years old, he began selling cars at Palmer Chevrolet in Springfield, MA. When the dealership transitioned to Beaulieu Chevrolet, Bob advanced through several management roles, honing his leadership and business skills.

In 1970, inspired by his father's entrepreneurial spirit, Bob co-founded Allen Imports of Springfield with partner Joe Gentile, specializing in MG, Renault, and Subaru vehicles. Their successful partnership later led them to purchase and operate a Dodge dealership together.

By 1977, Bob was ready to strike out on his own. He purchased Chrapek Pontiac in Chicopee, MA, renaming it Bob Pion Pontiac. Over the next three decades, he expanded the business to include the Buick and GMC franchises. In 1991, the dealership moved to a modern, state-of-the-art facility on one of Chicopee's main retail corridors-where it proudly remains today.

Although retiring in 1992 was a difficult decision, Bob found peace knowing the dealership's legacy would continue. He entrusted the business to his son, Don Pion, who now operates it alongside the next generation-his sons Robert and Thomas.
